Fabric Development's latest acquisition draws from a history rich in innovation. Its roots stem back to 1978, when the company was founded under the name Textile Technologies Inc. (TTI) to meet the growing demand for engineered fabric. After entrenching itself as a niche player for 2D production, TTI acquired the original advanced weaver, Woven Structures, a division of BP Chemical (Hitco) Inc., in 1991. The acquisition, a trusted supplier to the aerospace and advanced materials industries for 30 years, further solidified the company's position in this specialty market, while greatly expanding capabilities. To its core 2D products, TTI supplied a new advanced composite line designed to meet many diverse needs of a growing market. With material such as "fluted core" fabrics, polar weave (spiral) fabrics, Tailored Advanced Blanket Insulation (TABI) and closed-end radome type structures, TTI proved that the merger of these two technologies provided the industry with a greater breadth and depth of capability. In 1996, TTI caught the attention of Lydall Manning. To further enhance their manufacturing and R&D sophistication, the company constructed a state-of-the-art facility designed expressly to facilitate advanced fiber weaving. It is this company that Fabric Development Inc., acquired in February 2000 to complement its own expertise and commitment to quality engineered advanced composite fabrics.
